We almost crashed our drug-carrying transport on a trip from Howard Air Force Base, Panama to Marana, AZ. Painted on the side of the aircraft was "US Air Force". The CIA closed Marana in 1974 when the "secret" got out. You could Google it.

We dropped Army Reserve Sixth Special Forces troops in this area in 1972 with poor results. Parachutes don't work real good at high altitude. Alpine meadows might look soft. Not! Two jumpers leaving the aircraft at the same time collided.
